I have MIA that last couple of days. My daughter has not being feeling her best. She has not let me leave her side not even to go to the bathroom. I took her down to JBER (Joint base Elemendorf-Richardson) for a doctor’s appointment, I have been trying to get her in since Monday, but since it was a long weekend for the Military they have a lot to do to get back on track. So, we finally get seen, and it turns out she has the virus that is going around. He prescribed her some meds and than told me I need my booster for whooping couch, there has been over 210 cases so far and that I need to go down and get it. I head down to get my booster and of course everyone and their brother are there. An hour later and a very pissed off child we were done with my shots. Well now off to the pharmacy to pick up baby girls meds. Now, for anyone that does not know what it is like to go to an Army hospital is it always hurry up and wait.If you are late even a minute you are marked as a no show, and have to reschedule and if they feel like you were being a jerk about it they can call your spouse’s command and they can get in a ton of trouble, but they take all the time in the world to do anything. I know this game very well, since I have been playing for over 7 years but trying to adjust with an infant can be difficult. So back to the pharmacy, at that point we have been at the hospital for 2 hours, I go to check in and I was told a two hour wait! Oh man, can’t do, it is about lunch time so i call my husband and we have lunch. I head back up to the hospital with a sleeping baby and check in, This time an hour wait, well I do not have a choice, and my poor husband can not pick it up after work since they close at 4 and he gets off at 5. So, I sit down and wait our turn. I pick up her meds and by than baby girl is wide awake and irritated cause she has been in and out of the car seat for hours. We have a 45 minute ride home and figured it would be best to head to the commissary to pick up a few items and let her stretch. A ten minute trip inside turned into an hour and a half. We finally are on our way back home and its cold, I mean really cold negative degree weather cold. We finally make it home at 4:00. I left my house this morning at 9:00 AM and pulled into my driveway at 4:00 PM. I feel like it is such a hassle every time I have to go down to Post to do anything, and I always leave with a headache, But I am so thankful that we have healthcare and I can get meds to make her better. I will take all the hassle and frustration in the world, if it means my daughter will get better.
